The Dallas WinterSolsticelebration taps into the spirit of the winter season at a unique interactive solstice jubilee that draws on song, dance, storytelling, poetry and prayer to celebrate the shortest day/ longest night of the year — a day organizers say is “rich in metaphor and symbolism and considered the first holiday celebrated by man.”

Members of Texas Local Council Covenant of the Goddess perform a medley of Goddess chants for Multi-Faith Friends – “Give Thanks, Rejoice, and Sing” Sunday, March 1, 2009. The program featured speeches, music and dance performances by Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and Jewish groups hosted by Northway Christian Church. A vegetarian reception followed in deference to dietary practices of many participants, another way we care for one another.
The Wiccan chanters were understandably nervous as they ascended the steps to the platform and turned to face the audience.
“We began by humming, ‘We All Come from the Goddess’ and the power of the notes reverberating off the walls of the sanctuary was magical! As we lifted our voices to sing and the sacred space rang with the many names of the Goddess, we were awestruck at the power that could be felt reaching through the room and touching the audience members. We were pleased and touched when so many let us know how much they loved our performance as we shared food following the program.”
